Dr. Rene Haller – Trustee
Haller’s namesake, Dr. Rene Haller, is a Swiss-born naturalist, trained in horticulture, landscaping and tropical agronomy. He is best known for his transformation of a barren cement quarry in Mombasa, Kenya into the ecological wonder now known as Haller Park. In 1987, Rene was awarded the United Nations Environment Programme Global 500 Roll of Honour, for his ‘outstanding environmental achievements.’ In 1991, he received the Swiss Brandenberger prize, and was awarded with an honorary doctorate from the University of Basle. In 1991 Rene set up The Baobab Trust, a non-profit organisation committed to environmental conservation through developing sustainable ecosystems. Haller works closely with The Baobab Trust, and Dr. Haller sits on the board of both organisations.

Jeremy studied History at Cambridge and worked in banking since graduating in the early 1980s. Most of his career was spent at Cazenove where he ran the small and mid cap equities department. After the merger between J.P. Morgan and Cazenove in 2010 he became head of UK Equity Research. He has just retired from the city, and is now Chairman of Haller, and the 999 Club, a charity helping the homeless in London’s East End.

After graduating with a law degree from Cambridge, Louise spent nearly 20 years working as an investment banker with JP Morgan in the financial markets of London, New York and the Far East. As a former colleague of Guido Haller she visited Kenya to see the work of his father. Louise was inspired by Dr. Haller, and by the potential for the Haller model to help the poor in Sub-Saharan Africa. She co-founded The Haller Foundation to raise funds to promote Dr. Haller’s principles and support his ideas.
Julia Hailes – Co-Founder and Trustee
Julia is one of the UK’s leading sustainability consultants and author of nine books, including the million selling Green Consumer Guide. Julia met Dr. Haller as a fellow UNEP Global 500 Laureate and was hugely inspired by his work and vision. Dr. Haller introduced Julia to Louise, and they co-founded The Haller Foundation. Julia has recently set up a new company – E for Good – which aims to clean up problems relating to the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment.
