Ace Africa
Ace Africa helps communities to take responsibility for their own health, wellbeing and development. Their 10-15 year long-term approach supports communities, partners and local government to create infrastructure which can be sustained without Ace Africa’s presence.
In order to alleviate the cycle of poverty in communities within Bungoma and Siaya counties in Kenya, Haller teamed up with Ace Africa to share their knowledge of holistic development. Through a Community Livelihoods Initiative (CLI), Haller helped Ace Africa to set up training programmes for community members in advanced fish farming and farming techniques. In turn, Ace Africa built Haller’s organisational capacity by conducting a baseline study in a Haller project site, Kisauni. This research project helped Haller to understand its impact and improve its organisational capacity and the Haller Kenya team’s Monitoring and Evaluation skills .
Through this partnership, Haller and Ace Africa were able to pool their models of sustainable development and empower communities to raise themselves out of food poverty. The project saw an 187% increase in community/household income, and the training of 1,440 individuals in fish farming skills. This successful result was made possible not only by work carried out by Haller and Ace Africa but also by generous funding needed to support these projects from the Innocent Foundation.
